Whether meeting another person’s needs, being someone to talk to, or creating a fun, welcoming environment, the hospitality industry is all about caring for people. Bars and restaurants are often places where individuals meet new people, hang out with family and friends, or simply enjoy a new experience. This October, bars across South Florida will demonstrate their strong community values by expressing pink pride for Breast Cancer Awareness month. From donating a portion of proceeds to important causes to curating Breast Cancer Awareness inspired drinks and events to empower women and their businesses, these bars spread awareness by spreading joy.

For the month of October, Bodega Taqueria y Tequila with locations in South Beach, Fort Lauderdale, and Aventura, will have available their frozen drinks in a limited-edition stadium cup for $9. Named after the fiancé (Dianne) of the restaurant’s namesake Warren John, Dianne’s Delight is priced at $12 and features Kettle One Vodka, Fresh Pressed Lime Juice & Cane Syrup and is garnished with a sage leaf and one whole blackberry. Miami’s iconic downtown hotel, InterContinental Miami, is going pink in support of Breast Cancer Awareness Month. On October 1, the hotel will commemorate Breast Cancer awareness in a big way when the exterior digital canvas illuminates the Miami skyline in pink to display a 36-foot digital Pink Ribbon that will be on display throughout the entire month of October.

In addition, visitors can follow the hotel’s interior pink lighting to Toro Toro, chef/restaurateur Richard Sandoval’s Pan-Latin steakhouse located on the lobby level of the property. Throughout October, Toro Toro is featuring the Pink La Bomba, a pink chocolate half sphere filled with cream cheese mousse, dulce de leche, strawberry ice cream, fresh berries, cookie crumbles and vanilla and berry sauce ($32) and the signature Pink Iris cocktail made with Patron Silver, house made sour, agave, passion fruit and marigold flowers ($18) 20% of all proceeds from sales of the Pink La Bomba and Pink Iris cocktail will be donated to BRCAStrong, a 501(c)3 non-profit that aims to support and alleviate the emotional and financial burdens of women facing breast cancer and ovarian cancer. The hotel will be lit in pink starting Oct. 1 to serves as a beacon of hope; MO Bar + Lounge will feature a Pink Warrior cocktail ($21) made with gin, maraschino liqueur, liqueur de Violette and a twist of lime; La Mar by Gaston Acurio will feature their Pink Causa for A Cause ($25) made with potato puree plated in the shape of a ribbon, flavored with beets, crabmeat, Peruvian trout, avocado, and more; and The Spa will feature their “Inner Strength” treatment designed to ease physical tension and emotional anxiety following a stressful time in one’s life. To commemorate October as Breast Cancer Awareness Month, Pubbelly Sushi is pleased to announce the “Drink Pink” fundraiser to benefit Sylvester Comprehensive Cancer Center at the University of Miami Miller School of Medicine. The promotion, which runs from Oct. 1-31, features the restaurant’s limited-time-only Pink Sangria ($16) made with sparkling rosé, a dash of sprite, guava, a whole muddled strawberry, and a twist of lime. A portion of proceeds from the sale of every cocktail will go to fund Sylvester’s wig program that provides free wigs for cancer patients and survivors

Throughout the month of October for Breast Cancer Awareness, TUR Kitchen will offer guests it’s Mediterranean Tea cocktail. For the month of October, Red Rooster Overtown has teamed up with the woman-owned & operated E11EVEN Vodka to create a specialty boozy milkshake in support of Breast Cancer Awareness Month. The pink colored vodka-spiked ‘Miami Mi11kshake’ is made with E11EVEN Vodka, Strawberry Ice-Cream, Pineapple Juice and Condensed Coconut Milk (full recipe below) and will be on the Red Rooster menu all of October priced at $15. 50% of Miami Mi11kshake sales during the entire month of October will go to FloridaBreastCancer.org. – 2 oz E11EVEN Vodka

– 2 oz pineapple juice

– 2 oz Condensed Coconut Milk

– 2 scoops of Strawberry Ice-cream

– 2 cups of Ice

– Garnish: Pineapple Frans, Strawberry Slices, Toasted Coconut Flakes. 

Directions to make: Blend all ingredients in a blender and pour into a hurricane glass.
