La Cañita’s spectacular view of Miami’s waterfront offers the perfect backdrop for lunch or dinner, celebrating The Infectious Spirit of the Islands and Central and South American Culture with Eclectic Menu, Rum-Centric Cocktails and Live Music Daily

La Cañita is meant to invoke the feeling of a distillery somewhere in the tropics of the Caribbean. Like the various influences found in the food and cocktails, the interior features vintage tropical wallpaper, carefully mismatched cement tile lining the bar, and dusky pink walls that conjure the colonial architecture of the Caribbean islands. The restaurant also conveys an open-aired, industrial feel that one might experience at some of the region’s best rum producers with giant copper columns that run from floor to ceiling.

La Cañita Rum Runner photo by Michael PisarriThe beverage program is designed to get the party going with house-crafted cocktails that mix traditional with modern. The bar will feature five flavors of Mojito — strawberry, guava, passion fruit, mango, and coconut — and the same five flavors for their Tommy’s Margarita. Among the 20 cocktails on the menu, other standouts include the Oaxaca, a Mexican-style Negroni; and Our Old Fashioned featuring rosemary-infused whiskey, date bitters, and grapefruit.

Beer by the bottle and five options on draught, including Modelo, Estrella Damm, and La Rubia blonde ale from Wynwood Brewing Company. Wine offerings include three sparkling wines, five whites, and four red wines from both Old and New World producers.

The 4,800-square-foot restaurant is jointly owned by James Beard Foundation Award-winning chef Michelle Bernstein, known for her command of pan-Latin cuisines, and partner David Martinez, equally well-known for his expertise in world-class, award-winning hospitality. Together, they’ve partnered with Davide Borgia and Orestes Pajon to bring this high-energy space to life.

“La Cañita is quintessential Miami,” says Martinez. “We are so fortunate to have this melting pot of cultural and culinary influences in this city, and we hope to put them front-and-center with our new concept-driven restaurant. Between the big flavors and fun cocktail combinations, plus an amazing location with spectacular views, and live music filling the space day and night, La Cañita will be Miami’s go-to place to celebrate all the vibrancy of Latin and Caribbean culture. We’re looking forward to contributing to the continued growth of Bayside Marketplace’s landmark property; and ultimately, to spread the spirit of this great concept to other pockets of the country.”

La Cañita’s menu features a selection of hot and chilled appetizers, soups, empanadas, salads and sandwiches, along with entrees from land and sea, and desserts. The restaurant will also offer a kid’s menu for family dining.

Upon opening, the restaurant will be closed Mondays and Tuesdays and will be open Wednesday and Thursday from 11:30 a.m. to 9 p.m.; Friday and Saturday from 11:30 a.m. to 11 p.m.; and Sunday from 11:30 a.m. to 10 p.m. For more information, please visit LaCañitaMiami.com, follow the restaurant at @LaCañitaMiami or email info@lacanitamiami.com.

A Four-Part Pop-Up Series Honoring South Florida’s Love for Cafecitos and Premium Rum

Brugal 18888, a premium rum crafted in the Dominican Republic, today announces “La Ventanita”: a four-neighborhood pop up series that celebrates South Florida’s ventanita culture and love for exceptional rum cocktails. The activation, which will bring the flair and flavor of the Dominican Republic to Miami, will kick off on September 19 in Brickell City Center and make three additional stops in top neighborhoods through early 2022. Those locations will remain a surprise until opening, a playful nod to five generations of distilling secrets kept within the Brugal family.

A unique blend of passion for freshly brewed coffee and espresso as well as exceptional rum mastery, La Ventanita will be equal parts bustling daytime coffee shop and swinging evening rum bar. During “cafecito runs,” guests can lounge among plush seating and sofas while enjoying selections from catering partner Dos Croquetas, such as Café Con Leche or Cafecito alongside a pastelito, with flavors including Guava & Cheese topped with a coconut infused glaze and toasted coconut, or Picadillo & Plantain. At 4:00pm each day, La Ventanita will energetically transition into the Brugal 1888 Rum Bar, a sensory experience unveiling the magic behind the distillery to cocktail process and how 130 years of rum mastery translate into a unique spirit. Master mixologists will shake up craft cocktails showcasing the premium rum – such as the signature Don Nano’s Favorite with Brugal 1888 and a coconut water ice sphere, as well as “La Ventanita,” a Brugal 1888 coffee infused cocktail – while sharing stories of the legendary Brugal family.

brugal1

“With La Ventanita, we hope to share our family traditions here in the Dominican Republic with everyone in the South Florida area. Some of my best days have started with a cafecito and pastelito, and have ended with an evening filled with dancing, singing and, of course, rum cocktails with my family and loved ones,” said Brugal 1888 Maestra Ronera Jassil Villanueva Quintana. “It is an honor to be able to continue my family’s legacy of crafting a beloved product like Brugal 1888, and I look forward to bringing that experience to life through La Ventanita.”

The Brugal 1888 La Ventanita will be set on the 2nd floor Garden Deck of Brickell City Center, directly across from ZARA, from September 19 – 28, 2021. The Cafecito Shop will be open from 1:00 – 3:00 p.m. and the Brugal 1888 Rum Bar from 4:00 – 9:00 p.m. daily. Guests can enjoy a variety of immersive experiences that bring the Dominican Republic to life in Miami, including rum tasting classes with Brugal 1888 ambassadors, guest bartender evenings with top local bartenders, domino tournaments and more.

On a special trip to Miami, Master distiller Tony Salles hosted an exclusive tasting event and presentation of El Tequileño Tequila at Stiltsville in South Beach. Tony is a third-generation distiller, and his father, Juan Salles, who runs the blending and bottling facility, is one of only five to be given the award of ‘gran tequilero’, one of the most respected people in the business.

Named in honor of the people of Tequila, El Tequileño was founded in 1959 by Don Jorge Salles Cuervo with a vision to create only the finest tequila. Sixty years later, El Tequileño is made in the same place using the same recipe by the grandson of Don Jorge.

El Tequileño is one of the most well-known historical brands in the industry. El Tequileño comes originally from the town of Tequila and it is really famous because in this town there’s a bar called La Capilla, a tiny little cantina, famous for making one specific drink: La Batanga. It’s Mexican cola, Tequila, lime juice and with a salt rim, and stirred with a knife. La Capilla has won multiple awards as one of the most iconic bars in Mexico; the only tequila they use for La Batanga is El Tequileño.

EL Tequileño Reposado Rare: is a limited edition tequila aged for 6 years in a large American Oak barrel called a Pipon. Despite being aged longer than most Extra Añejos, this must be labeled Reposado due to the size of the barrel exceeding the 600L maximum. Therefore, El Tequileño presents the world’s first Reposado Rare! 6 years of undisturbed rest has resulted in a Tequila of amazing complexity, rich flavors, and exceptional depth. Each bottle is individually numbered and signed by Gran Tequilero, Antonio Salles, 2nd Generation Master Distiller.

El Tequileno Reposado Gran Reserva:
As a difference on their Reposado, this one is 8 months rested and blended w/ 15% Anejo.
Aromas of banana, caramelized pear, nutmeg & vanilla. Light oak flavors, vanilla, toffee & Macadamia nuts.
